Sustainability
Measured before it is claimed.
Our environmental performance is reported on the same cycle as production, assured by the same auditor, and published in full — including the parts that have not improved.
In 2020 Falaj could not have told you how much gas it flared. Most sites estimated flare volumes rather than metering them, and the group total was an addition of estimates. The first thing the emissions programme did was meter every flare tip at every operated site — before a single mitigation project was approved.
The measured baseline changed the priority order completely. Two fields turned out to be responsible for more than half the group total, and both were solved with compression rather than anything exotic. That is the whole method: measure first, then spend where the measurement points.
Scope 3 remains the honest gap. We report it on a spend-based method for purchased goods and a physical method for sold products, and both are less reliable than our scope 1 and 2 figures. We say so in the report rather than presenting a single confident number.

Per million worked hours, 2025, employees and contractors combined.
94%
Routine flaring eliminated
Against a metered 2020 baseline across nineteen operated sites.
0.11%
Methane intensity
As a share of marketed gas. Independently assured since 2023.
78%
Produced water reinjected
Rising to 91% once Al Nakhil Phase II reaches full rate.
The programmes behind the numbers
- Zero routine flaring — 94% eliminated against a metered 2020 baseline
- Methane leak detection and repair, with fixed and aerial survey
- 46 MW of solar displacing fuel gas on the water injection load
- Vapour recovery on tankage and marine loading at Ras Sahil
- Produced-water reinjection, at 78% and rising to 91% from 2027
- Independent limited assurance over the emissions inventory since 2023
