Sustainability
Our HSSE framework
Work stops when a hazard is found, and the person who stopped it is not asked to justify the delay.
Falaj runs one HSSE framework across every operated site and every project, regardless of country or contractor. Contractors are held to the same standard as employees and are counted in the same injury statistics — which is the only way those statistics mean anything.
Process safety is managed separately from personal safety, because the two fail differently. A site can go years without a lost-time injury while its process safety barriers quietly degrade. Barrier health is reported to the board's HSSE committee independently of the injury rate.
How it works in practice
- 01
Stop-work authority
Anyone on any site can stop work. No justification is required afterwards and no manager may overturn it — only close the hazard.
- 02
One standard for contractors
Contractor hours, incidents and injuries are counted in the group figures. Contractor supervisors attend the same competency assessment as ours.
- 03
Process safety barriers
Barrier health — overpressure protection, isolation, detection and mitigation — is assessed and reported separately from personal injury statistics.
- 04
High-potential reporting
Every high-potential incident reaches the board committee within seventy-two hours whether or not anyone was hurt.
- 05
Learning that travels
Incident learning is distributed group-wide within a week, including from projects that are not ours where the lesson applies.
